This is a blog to share my love of pastels. Daily practice isn't always possible, but it remains the best way to make consistent progress.

Oranges, Lemon, and Pink Grapefruit - 14" x 18" Pastel
A recent still life, painted from life. The grapefruit was a beautiful pink inside, and the tablecloth was a challenge. I love working with a blue-orange complementary palette, and so I made the background blue, even though it wasn't.
I once spent countless hours drawing and painting alongside my artist dad when I was a kid.
Now, I live in NY with my husband, and a rescue dog named Sam. Occasionally, one of our grown kids shows up, too ...
As a challenge, back in 2000 I decided to try daily painting for a month. It grew into a multi-year project, and this blog was the result.
One thing led to another, and daily painting gave way to a full time job managing marketing campaigns, and an 8-year hiatus from art. Now, I'm painting again.
While I no longer strive to create a daily painting, time in front of an easel is still the perfect antidote to life's ebbs and flows. It's my happy place.
Thanks for visiting my blog!
