The Guitarist - 10" x 14" Pastel

I have an idea for a series of paintings based on musicians, and this was a test of the concept. I plan to try it a few different ways, some with more color. I was trying to portray the intensity of the musician while playing, and also portray the atmospheric effect of smoke under lights. The subject of this painting is my son's guitar teacher, at a concert.

Hello Rhonda,
I just would like to say that I loved this painting. The way you used the blue palette, the composition and the theme are great.
I am painter myself (well, just a beginner) and is refreshing to find paintings like this instead of the old same flowers and dogs and ocean...
Well, I just would like to say congratulation and thanks.

I just wanted to pop in and say I really liked this one, Rhonda! I was behind on all my blog reading but as I was scrolling through your recent one, I saw this limited palette and smoky atmosphere and thought AH!!

Nice!
