Tuscan Alley

Worked more on this scene, not sure which is the best view, close in (posted yesterday) or further back. Depending on how it is cropped, the painting can be 11"x14", or 14"x18". Decisions, decisions!

Hi, great painting! I like both versions, but think there is more of a story to the one with more of the buildings. Nice gesture, colors and feeling.

Ronda I am also with the more of the buildings. My own personal view is if you do crop the top off, don't take off from the right hand side as there won't be enough of the dark wall to explain what it is. Your previous post that you cropped this way is better. In saying this I still like the one without any crop at all. It has a lot more depth to it and my eye just wants to take the tour of the buildings and yet settles back on the man and his dog.

Jo and Susan, thanks for weighing in on the subject. As a side note, the painting sold and the buyer agreed with you both--so it stays big!
